Usage Policy for LP AI Tutor

LP AI Tutor is a small, independent project, not a big-company product. This is a plain-language account of how you may use Loop, how your data is handled, and the rules everyone agrees to when they create an account. It sits alongside the Safety & Privacy page, which is our privacy policy — read them together.

What Loop is, and who it's for

Loop is an AI tutor. The tutor is Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic — not a human, and not a substitute for one. Loop is for adults 18 and up: creating a free account is required before your first lesson, and accounts are adults-only in this version (see the Safety & Privacy page for the age rules and why). Loop can be wrong and can sound confident while being wrong, so verify anything that really matters — especially for schoolwork, health, money, legal, or safety questions. Loop is an educational tool, not professional legal, medical, financial, or mental-health advice.

How your data is used, and what's sent to Anthropic

When you send a message to the tutor, that message and a short summary of your learning context (your stated goal, skill level, interests, flashcards you keep forgetting, recent quiz topics, and your active learning path — no chat history beyond a short recent window) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a reply. Anthropic's standard API terms govern that exchange, and under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your conversations are not used to train any model. We never send Anthropic your email address or any account identifier tied to your identity — requests carry only a one-way hashed token used for abuse monitoring.

Your actual learning — name, goal, flashcards, quiz history, chat history, XP, and streaks — lives only in your browser on your device, and is never uploaded to our servers. The only thing stored server-side is your account record (email, sign-in method, account ID, and link date). Full detail, including analytics, is on the Safety & Privacy page.

Acceptable use — and Anthropic's Usage Policy

Because Loop is built on Anthropic's Claude, your use of Loop is also governed by Anthropic's Usage Policy (its Acceptable Use Policy), and Loop adheres to it. You can read Anthropic's policy in full here: anthropic.com/legal/aup. By creating an account you agree to use Loop only for lawful, educational purposes, and not to use it — or attempt to use it — to:

  • Break the law, or help anyone else break it, or infringe others' intellectual property.
  • Create or refine weapons — including chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear ones — or anything designed to cause physical harm.
  • Attack computers or networks: malware, ransomware, denial-of-service tools, unauthorized access, or defeating security controls.
  • Disrupt critical infrastructure (power, water, healthcare, telecommunications, voting systems, and the like).
  • Incite or promote violence, terrorism, hate, or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics.
  • Promote or provide instructions for suicide, self-harm, disordered eating, or harassment of any person.
  • Sexualize children in any way, or facilitate grooming, trafficking, or sextortion — a zero-tolerance line.
  • Generate sexually explicit or fetish content, or use the tutor for erotic chat.
  • Violate others' privacy — sharing someone's personal information without consent, or misusing health or biometric data.
  • Commit fraud or deception: scams, phishing, counterfeit goods, fake documents or identities, fake reviews, plagiarism, or impersonating a real person.
  • Spread deliberate misinformation, or interfere with elections or democratic processes.
  • Abuse the platform: coordinating across many accounts, jailbreaking or circumventing safety guardrails, scraping the model, or evading a ban.

Loop is a personal learning tool, so it isn't the right place for the "high-risk" professional uses Anthropic calls out — automated legal, medical, insurance, financial, employment, or academic-testing decisions about other people. Use Loop to learn, not to make consequential decisions about someone else.

Your account, and enforcement

Your account is free, has no password (a one-time emailed sign-in link or Google sign-in), and is yours to delete at any time from Settings — deletion is real and server-verified (see the Safety & Privacy page). Keep your account to yourself; one person, one account. We may limit, suspend, or remove access that violates this policy or Anthropic's, or that threatens the safety of the service or its users. Because this is a small independent project, enforcement is best-effort and human, not a formal appeals system.

Changes and questions

This is a personal project, and this page is the current source of truth. If something changes in how Loop works or how data is handled, we'll update this page and the Safety & Privacy page — not just the code. If you have a question about acceptable use or data handling, that's the place to check first.
